Anna Wintour shares her favourite moments from NYFW. Fashion icon Anna Wintour has revealed her favourite moments from New York Fashion Week, putting Ralph Lauren’s 50th anniversary celebration show at the top.
The Vogue editor was among the guests at Ralph’s show at the Bethesda Terrace fountain in Manhattan’s Central Park and she describes the event as a ‘monumental moment’.
In a video for Vogue looking back at some of Fashion Week’s highlights, Wintour said: “”New York Fashion Week started with such a monumental moment in American fashion history with Ralph Lauren’s fantastic celebration to his 50 years in the business.”
”I think that’s a lesson we can all learn that in the end you have to follow your own beliefs and your own vision and Ralph has always stuck to that mantra.”
She also admitted her love of the work from new designers supported by the Council of Fashion Designers of America fund – which offers a grant and mentorship to emerging American design talent.
“All of us at Vogue through our work with the CFDA Fashion fund has supported young talent for over 15-years and we’ll continue always to do so.”
”But somehow this season more than any, they seem so full of energy and so full of ideas and so convincing in their belief of dressing their communities and believing in their communities.”
The British editor also spoke of how she enjoyed the return of some favourite designers, such as Rodarte and Proenza Schouler, as well as the determination of models and designers who were caught in bad weather conditions.
She said: “People might trudge through the rain to some locations and get drenched but it didn’t really matter because it was such an optimistic experience”
”It was a whole group of them from Telfar to enjoying having Rodarte back with us, we saw Proenza back with us it’s like the older generation but also true to who they are.”
