Meryl Streep to become grandmother for the first time. Acting legend Meryl Streep is about to take on a new role: being a grandmother.

The actress’ daughter, Mamie Gummer, is pregnant with her first child with her fiance Mehar Sethi , with a rep for the star confirming the news to Us Weekly.

The couple announced their engagement in August, with Mehar posting a picture of the loved-up pair on Instagram, simply captioning the post: My fiancé.”

Mamie, 35, is the second child of Streep’s four children with husband Don Gummer. Her siblings are Henry Wolfe Gummer, 33, Grace Gummer, 32 and Louisa Gummer, 27.

The mother-to-be was previously married to actor Benjamin Walker but the pair went their separate ways in 2013, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Although this will be Streep’s first time being a grandmother in real life, she’ll soon play a granny (albeit an intimidating one) on screen in Big Little Lies. She’ll portray Mary Louise Wright, mother of Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard) and mother-in-law to Celeste (Nicole Kidman).
