Rod Stewart wants his own biopic. Rod Stewart wants his own biopic – and he knows just who he wants to play him.
The 73-year-old singer has said he would love to follow the likes of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘ and the upcoming Elton John film ‘Rocket Man’ with a big screen saga on his own life, with his son Alistair, 13, taking on the lead role.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ about the prospect, he said: “‘I would love a movie. My Alastair said gotta make one about you! Because I can play a younger you. I’d love to cooperate!'”
Nowadays, the singer revealed how lucky he is to easily fit his work around his young children – he has sons Alistair and Aiden with wife Penny Lancaster-Stewart – because he couldn’t do the same when his older children, Kimberly and Sean, were growing up.
He admitted: “I was hugely in debt to the IRS so I had to go out and work, the two eldest ones, Kimberly and Sean, did complain about it but I said I wasn’t having a party, I had to go out and work, pay the IRS off, but now I see the kids calendars and work around it because I can afford to do it.”
Not ready to slow down at 73, he lamented that the only thing about getting older is his right knee giving him trouble and stopping him playing football with his sons like he used to.
The Celtic supporter laughed: ‘No slowing down here mate! The only thing about getting older is the old knees can’t play football like they used to. I have a lot of trouble with this right knee. It was in a leg cast.”
“At first it was a real novelty. Then it was annoying which prevented me from doing my finer dance moves. I miss playing football with the kids.’
