Azealia Banks is hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons this week, as she claimed to have been called a ‘wild animal’ on an Aer Lingus flight, called all Irish women ‘ugly’ and has called herself the ‘Queen Of Ireland’ on her Instagram.
The American rapper arrived in Ireland by boat on Tuesday after a somewhat eventful 24 hours which saw her storming off a Dublin-bound Aer Lingus flight following an altercation with cabin crew.
In a bid to defend Irish women, Instagram user @caithillnails decided to protest the 212 rapper’s comments by posting pics of Irish women – including Ireland’s reigning Rose of Tralee Kirsten Mate Maher.
She posted a snap, along with the caption: “You were saying @azealiabanks ?!”.
Azealia reposted the image, writing: “Nah you’re chopped sis.” with the hashtag #uglyirishgirl and a laughing emoji.
Kirsten, 21, took it in her stride, writing on Twitter: “Lads, why am I on Azealia Banks’ Instagram story? CREASED.”
Resharing Azealia’s post on her Instagram Story, Kirsten wrote: “Thanks babe, you too”.
She then posted a stunning selfie and cheekily challenged the rapper by saying: “@Azealiabanks @me then. Kisses from an #uglyirishgirl.”
