Giorgio Armani teams up with Luca Guadagnino on special project. Giorgio Armani has announced the second instalment of his Armani/Laboratorio Project – an intense 10-day training course offered to young students who want to know more about filmmaking.
The man overseeing this year’s instalment is Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino, who outlines the focus he would be giving on the course.
“Growth, identity, the new world of women – these are the themes we’ll concentrate on. Universal but also topical themes, and therefore very Armani.”
Sharing his inspiration behind Armani/Laboratorio, Armani says “I have made it something of a personal mission to support and encourage young talents. “
“Mentoring is an excellent way to do this, as you are not simply imposing your beliefs on others, you are engaging with their opinions and encouraging them to fulfil their own potential. The relationship benefits the mentor as much as the mentee.”
The final result of this project will be a film made by students and mentors. Last year’s film was screened during the Armani Autumn/Winter 2018 show in February.
“Cinema, like fashion, enchants us with the use of images,” the legendary designer said. “It’s the product of team work in which the end result depends on everyone’s contribution. Armani/Laboratorio is my idea of a ‘film atelier’ where stories are created by students working together with guidance and support from the most highly skilled key players in the industry.”
