Kilkenny shows off the best of Irish fashion designs. Iconic Irish fashion house, Kilkenny that is the home of Irish craft and design are on the lookout for the best in Irish home grown fashion talent as they launch Scéal: A story of Irish Design which runs in selected Kilkenny stores nationwide that’s running throughout the whole of September
Scéal is a celebration of the unique relationship that Kilkenny has with its makers and for decades the retailer has been dedicated to telling the stories behind each of their crafts understanding that each narrative is as individual as the pieces themselves.
Kilkenny has been working with the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI) on a special collection of Irish made craft which is showcased on both DesignIreland.ie and KilkennyShop.com and presented in the windows of the Kilkenny Group’s flagship Nassau Street Store.
For this month only, Kilkenny are hosting an exclusive Irish fashion pop up which features a wide range of talented Irish designers including Manley, Natalie B Coleman, Triona Designs, Madigan, Shevlin Millinery, Holden Leathergoods, Emblem Weavers, Debbie Millington and Bernie Murphy. Each will showcase their products in the Kilkenny flagship store in Nassau Street, Dublin for a limited time only and while stocks last.
For some of Kilkenny’s long standing stockists, Scéal marks their continued successful relationship. This is especially true for Irish jewellery designer Alan Ardiff as he celebrates his 20th year in business with Kilkenny and to commemorate the occasion he has recreated his iconic ‘Daisy Chain’ necklace which will be available exclusively in Kilkenny throughout the initiative for €220.
Ireland’s Eye Knitwear is also taking inspiration from Sceal and creating their own visual interpretation of the theme. Always keen to support and nurture up and coming talent, this month
Kilkenny also welcomes ceramic students from Design and Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI) Ceramics Skills and Design Course in Co. Kilkenny to find Ireland’s Best Emerging Ceramics Designer.
Earlier this year, final year students pitched a concept for a commercial ceramics range to longstanding group buyer Laura Pasquetti and Head of Buying Melissa O’Gorman.
Four students were selected to receive mentoring in range development, pricing, visual merchandising and marketing to develop a range in 4 months and have the opportunity to sell their collections in Kilkenny’s flagship store, Nassau Street for the month of September.
At the end of the month, one student will be selected as the overall winner of a €1,000 bursary. Voting is open to the public, and you can do so in-store when you make a purchase or online via www.kilkennyshop.com/vote. Good luck to all entrants!
