Why Robyn Lawley is boycotting Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has become one of the most watched fashion events of the year. but runway show after runway show, no plus-sized model is giving a pair of Victoria’s Secret wings and asked to walk in the collection.
Well, Robyn Lawley is trying to change that.
The model has called for people to boycott the show due to the lack of body diversity. Robyn has long been an advocate for the plus sized community, having been the first curvy model to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated back in 2015.
In an Instagram post, she wrote: “…lets help change the minds of Victoria’s Secret to be more diverse and inclusive of body shapes and sizes on their runways! Victoria Secret have dominated the space for almost 30 years by telling women there is only one kind of body beautiful.”
Robyn is asking for fans to sign a petition to inspire change, she’s urging people to post pics of what makes them beautiful and to use the hashtag #WeAreAllAngels.
For every picture that uses the hashtag, ThirdLove will donate one bra to the non-profit agency Support The Girls that provide homeless women with bras.
While Victoria’s Secret has made small changes to diversify their models in the show by casting Kelsey Merrit, the first Filipino model to walk, and Winnie Harlow, the first model who has vitiligo, the lingerie brand still has a long way to go in terms of body diversity.
